Top ten finish for racing ace Tom Ingram in this season’s BTCC

An incredibly exciting season in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) has drawn to a close. After ten events, Hansford Sensors-sponsored driver Tom Ingram finished the season comfortably in tenth place in the drivers’ standings and fourth place in the independent standings.

The Ginetta Junior, G50 and GT Supercup champion regularly wowed crowds with jaw dropping performances to compete with his more experienced and well-funded competition. Over the course of the season he and his Speedworks Motorsport team experienced a number of highs and lows. The season started in perfect fashion as he raced to first place in the opening race at Brands Hatch Indy. However, frustrating reliability issues with the car stopped Tom from building on this excellent start and over the course of the season prevented him from finishing six of the 30 races.

In total, Tom raced his way onto the podium on six occasions – helping him to improve on his fifteenth place finish in last season’s BTCC and help Speedworks Motorsport secure 7th place in the team standings. In addition to a number of very impressive drives throughout the season, he produced a special performance at Silverstone to finish first in race one – realising a lifelong dream of most race fans in the process.

“Securing a top ten finish this year at such a young age, and with so many talented drivers on the grid, is a significant achievement for both Tom and the Speedworks crew,” said Chris Hansford, Managing Director of Hansford Sensors. “This season he’s proven he possesses all the tools required to challenge the big boys at the top. With a bit more luck next year in terms of reliability, he’ll no doubt climb even further up the standings.

“We’ve enjoyed every moment of being involved this year and can’t wait for the start of next year’s racing.”
