Tom Ingram leads BTCC standings as performances reach new heights

Following an outstanding start to the season, Hansford Sensors-sponsored British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) driver Tom Ingram is in first place in the driver’s standings.

Despite Tom competing in only his fourth BTCC season, he is impressing everyone within the sport as his maturity, consistent performances and competitiveness have earned five podiums in nine rounds of racing, including two stunning race wins.

Tom went into the most recent race weekend at Thruxton with a slim lead at the top of the driver’s standings, but extended his lead to 17 points after results of second, third and fourth. He currently sits on 131 points, which is over half of the total points he earned in the entire 2016 season – and we’re not even one-third of the way through the season.

Commenting on Tom leading the standings, our Managing Director, Chris Hansford, said: “Tom’s performances so far this season have been outstanding and he deservedly sits in first place. The way Tom and the Speedworks team are taking the fight to the senior pros on the grid is testament to their hard work in the off season, unwavering commitment and meticulous approach to each race.”

Tom’s performances have gained a lot of attention in the pit lane, and the likes of Colin Turkington and Gordon Sheddon will undoubtedly race harder than ever to wrestle the lead from Tom in the coming months.
