Hansford Sensors extends sponsorship of BTCC ace Tom Ingram into fourth year
Hansford Sensors, the leading global manufacturer of high performance industrial accelerometers, has extended its sponsorship of British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) racing driver Tom Ingram and the Speedworks Motorsport team into a fourth year.
Ingram, who is still only 23 years old, enjoyed his most successful BTCC campaign to-date in 2016. The three-time Ginetta Champion and former British Karting Champion secured Speedworks Motorsports’ first ever race victory in last season’s opener at Brands Hatch. He added a second triumph at Silverstone and was a consistent podium threat throughout the season.
Hansford Sensors’ sponsorship has enabled Ingram to make significant performance enhancements to his Toyota Avensis during the close season, as he prepares to launch a fresh attempt on the driver and team titles. With the support of his Speedworks team, Ingram has made a range of improvements to the Avensis in a concerted bid to enhance efficiency and improve overall performance of the car, focusing on everything from aerodynamics, to cooling and damping.
The sponsorship will also allow performance enhancements to be made between races where permitted, in addition to funding the repairs that are often required in what is widely regarded as the world’s premier and most fiercely-disputed tin-top series.
“2016 was Tom’s best season to date in the BTCC and it highlighted not only how far he’d come, but also how much further he can go. With the right changes to the car, we’ve no doubt Tom can go to the very top,” commented Chris Hansford, Managing Director of sponsors Hansford Sensors.
“We’re incredibly proud to be supporting Tom in BTCC for the fourth year in a row and wish him the best of luck for the season ahead. We’ll be cheering him on every step of the way in what looks sets to be another extremely exciting campaign.”
The 2017-18 British Touring Car Championship season launches on Thursday 16th March, with the first race of the season taking place at Brands Hatch on 1-2 April 2017. Every race of the campaign will be shown live on UK television on ITV4.
