Hansford Sensors continues sponsorship with BTCC racer Tom Ingram
Hansford Sensors will partner with BTCC racer Tom Ingram for an eighth straight year in 2019, continuing support of a driver widely rated as one of the very best on the national Motorsport scene.
Tom is heading into his sixth consecutive campaign in the British Touring Car Championship – the UK’s premier motor racing series – with the Brands Hatch curtain-raiser now less than two weeks away. Over the past five seasons, the 25-year-old has developed from a rookie into one of the BTCC’s absolute front-runners, finishing third overall in 2017 and second last year out of more than 40 high-calibre contenders, clinching the coveted Independent Drivers’ crown on both occasions.
Tom and the Speedworks Motorsport team for which he competes have swiftly established something of a giant-killing reputation in the paddock – so much so that they have attracted official Manufacturer support in 2019 from Toyota GB, with a change of car further raising expectations as the all-new, ‘Built in Britain’ Corolla joins the fray.
Hansford Sensors has been a key part of Tom’s exciting journey every step of the way having first begun backing him in 2012, right in the midst of an extraordinary run that saw him storm to three Ginetta titles in four years.
With a dynamic new car and the Toyota GB support, the renewed commitment of Hansford Sensors sponsorship as joint title partner on the #80 entry, further silverware for Ingram seems assured over the coming months.
Chris Hansford explains that he cannot wait for the season to start. “We are delighted to be back on-board with Tom and Speedworks this year,” he said. “We have watched Tom rise up through the ranks in what is arguably the world’s toughest touring car series, and we are both humbled and thrilled to have been able to share in that success. As an ambassador for our business, he is second-to-none, and we could not ask for anybody better to represent the Hansford Sensors brand on a nationwide scale.
“For Tom and the team to have gained Manufacturer backing this season is tremendously rewarding and thoroughly well-deserved, and the association will inevitably help to further enhance his profile and reputation both within and beyond the sport. I have absolutely no doubt that even more exciting times lie ahead.”
Tom has expressed “Somebody once said that when the people you work with are your best mates, it doesn’t feel like work at all and when I go to the racetrack with the Speedworks crew, that’s exactly how I feel. Chris and Lesley fit into that philosophy perfectly, and it’s brilliant to know they’ll be by our side again in 2019. I’m looking forward to showing off the Hansford Sensors colours on my new Toyota Corolla – and to proudly flying the flag for the brand from the top step of the BTCC podium.”
The 2019 BTCC season will begin at Brands Hatch’s Indy Circuit in Kent on 6/7 April, with all of the high-speed, high-octane, wheel-to-wheel action broadcast live and in high-definition on ITV4.
