Hansford Sensors sponsored racing ace Tom Ingram delivered another incredible performance in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) last weekend to secure his third podium in only the season’s third event.

Tom kicked the racing off in style at Thruxton on Saturday in qualifying when he set the fastest lap to earn himself pole position for race one. He then followed this up with a drive mature beyond his years to finish second only to Adam Morgan in the first race of the day on Sunday. This third podium of the season emphasises the spectacular progress Tom and his Speedworks Motorsport team are making.

There was disappointment in race two and three, however. A drive through penalty at the start of race two resulted in Tom being relegated to 27th on the grid, but with a determined drive he pegged his way back through the field to finish 20th. This was followed by an electrical problem in race three, which resulted in Tom having to pull out of the race as the alternator belt on his Toyota Avensis had broken.

Despite the challenges in race two and three, there is much to be happy about for Tom, who continues to impress the field with his fierce and fearless driving. He now moves up to 11th place in the Drivers Standings and is already looking ahead to bringing his A game to the next BTCC outing at Oulton Park.

“Tom wowed the crowd yet again in qualifying and race one at Thruxton, it really was edge of the seat stuff,” said our Managing Director, Chris Hansford, who was in the pit lane to see Tom deliver another impressive performance. “Tom might be disappointed with how race two and three played out, but these things happen in racing and he’ll have learned a huge amount from the experience. To have been stood on the podium three times already this season is a phenomenal achievement for Tom, and it’s only going to get better.”

Tom will be racing again on 4-5 June at Outlon Park.
