Hansford Sensors guide clears up confusion surrounding ATEX Directive changes

Hansford Sensors, the leading UK manufacturer of industrial accelerometers, has published a new guide explaining the changes to the ATEX directives that govern the use of equipment and protective systems in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The guide, which is titled Confused by the ATEX Directives and is available as a free download from the Hansford Sensors website, provides essential information on the articles within the new ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU to help maintenance engineers comply with stringent requirements for the electrical and mechanical components of instruments used in hazardous areas.

It features valuable background information on the implementation of the new ATEX Directive and the directive it replaces, whilst also explaining the importance of using ATEX approved products to protect staff and assets. Additionally, since the new directive extends certain obligations and responsibilities beyond manufacturers and authorised representatives to importers and distributors, the guide explains which party is responsible for which task.

“Since the introduction of the latest ATEX Directive in April 2016 we have heard from many customers who have had difficulty interpreting the complex new rules,” explained Chris Hansford, Managing Director of Hansford Sensors. “Our new guide eliminates this problem by providing readers with all the information they need to understand the changes to ATEX and ensure the equipment they’re using is safe and compliant.”
