BTCC ace Tom Ingram back to winning ways at Knockhill

Young racing star Tom Ingram made a stunning return to form in last weekend’s British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Knockhill.

Hansford Sensors-sponsored Tom had experienced a frustrating few races in recent months, with a combination of issues preventing him from building on his outstanding early season performances, but an impressive qualifying round stood him in good stead for the weekend’s races.

The hard work behind the scenes clearly paid off, as Tom put in a mature and carefully executed performance to secure a sixth place finish in race one.

A tough race two saw Tom lose ground, dropping two places to finish in eight place. But undeterred, Tom entered race three with the same attitude and confidence that has made him one of the most exciting racers on the grid.

A great start helped Tom into a good early race position, allowing him to capitalise on polesitter Whorton-Eales’ mistake and seize first place. His devastating pace, which resulted in him earning the fastest lap of the day (52.045 secs), allowed him to open up a one second gap over Gordon Shedden and earn a sixth podium of the season.

Tom and his Speedworks team now sit at the top of both independent standings. Tom is also fifth in the main drivers’ standings, with Speedworks fourth in the team category.

“When Tom is on form and the car is problem-free, there are few racers with more raw pace – this weekend’s third race emphasised that more than ever,” commented our Managing Director, Chris Hansford. “It’s great to see Tom and the team getting back to their best. They’ll be doing everything they can to ensure a strong end to the season, so we’re all set for a thrilling few races. We wish them the best of the luck!”
